Ipsy May Bag Review

So I've been a subscrber of ipsy (formerly MyGlam by Michelle Phan) since October 2012, making this my 8th bag so far. Some I've loved, others not so much. However, I keep coming back for more. This month's theme: Spring Fling.

The bag itself was orange & blue chevron. Only thing I like about the bag is the blue as I'm not a fan of orange or chevron patterns in general. The bags lately have seemed to be a little plain but I prefer the inside patterned and the outside plain. Newly added ipsy tags on the side were a great thing to put on, though.

Onto the products! This month there was a lot of different choices that people could have gotten based on their profile. For the most part it seems to work, though some people agree that there are others that we have no clue how we got.

1. Pacifica's Bronzing Body Butter in Coconut Crushed Pearl (~$5) This was one of the items I was on the fence about. I live in Hawaii and there's a lot of coconuts around me, I don't want to smell like them. Plus, this is supposed to be "bronzing" another thing I do not think I need. I tried it anyway and found that the scent wasn't too bad or strong, but still not too big of a fan of it. When I squeezed some out and put it on I found that it was sparkly as well. I like to use lotions on my arms and shoulders ad I don't want to be covered in sparkles.(Don't get me wrong I love sparkles - just not on me!) And another one to give to a friend to try.

2. Pacifica's Roll-on Perfume in Tahitian Gardenia ($12) First off, I love the value. I pay $10 and free shipping and one item alone is over that! They had given out roll-on perfumes a few months before I subscribed to the bags and I heard great things, so I was excited to get this. I love the smell of fresh gardenias and this perfume, too. It is easy to apply without using too much, which is good since the smell is very strong and stays pretty strong for a while. Definitely will use this more.

3. Yaby Concealer Refill in Honey ($4.85) When I heard about getting concealer, I was both excited and worried. Many people had gotten colors way to light for them, including a close friend. Luckily I got one that wasn't too light but I traded with my friend as I use mine for under my eyes and I could get away with her lighter color. If it weren't for the Glam RX Palette from a couple months ago I wouldn't care for the packaging (as with the Coastal Scents shadows) but it did fit in the magnetic case. Another good one this month.

4. Mirabella Colour Sheer Lipstick in Posy ($22) Love the value! ....But I don't wear lipstick. Not even at my high school proms. I am not a fan of lipstick, especially bright red and hot pinks. Knowing I wouldn't use it I didn't even bother to swatch it that way I can give it away. I was hoping to get the lip gloss instead of this as the colors on those aren't as dark/bright as they appear. I have a few friends who use lipsticks and I hope they can make more use out of this then I will.

5. Zoya Nail Polish in Blu ($8) In the past, I've hated the polishes I've been sent. The options weren't that great: bright reds and pinks to Nailtini's confetti infused creation. Whatever I had received I would give away or they are on the side to be given away. (As a test I even painted my poor dog's nails with the glitter one XD Good thing he's colorblind!) This month I was cringing when I saw the little nail polish box. I dislike pastels (I dislike a lot of things). Friends had gotten the awful yellows and orangey nude, but I got my favorite color: Blue or Blu as it's called. Still a little skeptical of pastel, I tried it and it wasn't bad. However, I then made it a little messy by attempting to do an ombre of silver glitter polish over Blu as a base. I will spare you from pictures of the mess. I think I'll keep it, even if it'll be on my toes - under my converse.

6. Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow in Glitter Rock ($20) Because of this bonus product for "being an active member of the ipsy community" I love this month's bag. I absolutely love urban decay's shadows and liners. The shade I got was a bright pink w/ pink glitter so I may not use it everyday but hey, I've done some pretty bright & weird looks on occasion.

7. NuMe $110 coupon off hair styling tools or extensions. Okay so this isn't another product but I wanted to add it because I couldn't resist. In every bag there was a coupon for $110 off selected products. I had my eyes set on one of the flat irons as I don't own one.(I don't flat iron my hair but it would be fun to play with & can you beat the price?) With the coupon it would have came out to around $50 with shipping. It even included on sale items: you could have paid $60 for a $230 iron. Unfortunately, this is another company that doesn't ship to Hawaii :( My hanai aunt (not blood aunt but considered as one) lives in the mainland and I am hoping to work it out so I ship it to her and she can ship it to me so that I can use this coupon. I've been waiting to get an iron and some say they are as good as the Chi ones - we'll see!

Total Value (w/ UD bonus): $71.85!!

Wow. I love this value this month. In I believe March, I didn't feel like I got much - including an anchor bag I didn't like at all. This month I love most of the products and will use them. The bags I haven't used I'm saving with the products I don't use and making grad gifts or other gifts for friends who will like them. I also loved that this came on time. Every month I have gotten this on or before the 15th. April's replacement bag I'm still waiting on (I'll explain in an overall ipsy review later >.<)

See ya guys later and thanks for reading!
